The Camino de Santiago - Day 2
On the trail one of the first things people ask is "Where are you from?" Germany, Spain, United States, Canada, France, Argentina... but as we walk, quickly this identity falls away, language barriers dissolve, and we become Somas having a first person experience. Sensing, seeing, feeling the ground beneath our feet, hearing the sound of our footsteps, the swish of the backpack as our hips swing with each step, smelling spring, noticing our thoughts, our breath - an internal awareness that only we as individuals can have. We can choose to leave judgement behind and simply be present to experience NOW.
"We have to walk in a way that we only print peace and serenity on the earth. Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet." -Thich Nhat Hanh
